Asset Category Setup

Assign and reassign company assets to employees with full ownership records and history.

Admins create asset categories before adding assets. Categories define what type of information is captured for each asset type.

How to Create an Asset Category

  1. Go to Asset Management โ†’ Category List
  2. Click Add Category
  3. Enter category name and description
  4. Select type: Hardware or Software
  5. Review default fields
  6. Select optional fields if required
  7. Add custom fields if needed
  8. Click Submit

Category Form Fields

  • Purchase Date
  • Brand

  • MAC ID
  • Warranty Expiry
  • Processor
  • RAM
  • Storage
  • Storage Type
  • RAM Upgrade

Custom Fields

Admins can add category-specific custom fields:

Managing Categories

Category Tabs

  • All โ€” View all categories
  • Hardware โ€” View hardware categories only
  • Software โ€” View software categories only

Create categories before adding any assets. Well-structured categories with the right fields make asset tracking, filtering, and reporting significantly more accurate.
